Texas A&M is a finalist for the top-ranked player in the transfer portal

Texas A&M has added its first addition from the transfer portal. Former Baylor/UAB quarterback Jacob Zeno announced his commitment on Tuesday night. The veteran signal-caller brings a ton of experience to a youthful quarterback room in 2025.

However, while the quarterback room is solidified, the Aggies need to replace the lost production of defensive ends Nic Scourton and Shemar Stewart, who both declared for the 2025 NFL Draft this week.

Looking to add at least two Edge defenders from the portal, head coach Mike Elko and his staff are now finalists to land former Nebraska Edge Princewill Umanmielen, the top-ranked player in the transfer portal. Production-wise, Umanmielen isn’t highly regarded from a stat perspective, but his traits are borderline elite.

Standing at 6-5 and nearly 250 pounds, Umanmielen is a versatile pass rusher who can line up on the outside or shade the tackle in the 4i, similar to Scourton. In his last two seasons with the Cornhuskers, Umanmielen recorded 35 tackles, 1.5 sacks, and a pass deflection.

Texas A&M will battle with Auburn, Florida State, LSU, and Texas Tech for Princewill Umanmielen’s commitment.
