Texas A&M’s transfer portal success isn’t strictly based on numbers. Still, it is based on the quality of players at nearly every position, especially at wide receiver, after coach Mike Elko and his staff landed three commitments, including NC State transfer WR KC Concepcion.
However, after losing defensive linemen Nic Scourton, Shemar Turner, and Shemar Stewart to the 2025 NFL Draft, Elko and his staff landed three edge rushers but still need interior D-line depth.
This week, it was reported that Texas A&M would host former Washington State DL David Gusta. According to On3’s Steve Wiltfong, former Iowa State defensive lineman Tyler Onyedim joined Gusta to visit College Station on Thursday afternoon.
Gusta recorded 21 total tackles, three tackles for loss, one sack, and six quarterback hurries for the Cougars. He is one of the better athletes at his size (6-2, 302 pounds).
Onyedim produced 90 tackles, three sacks, and 12 tackles for loss during the previous four seasons. A notable athlete, Onyedim finished the 2024 season with an impressive 72.4 run defensive grade and 62.7 coverage grade, according to Pro Football Focus.
