Texas A&M (4-1, 2-0 SEC) will face the Missouri Tigers (4-0, 1-0 SEC) in a critical Week 6 conference clash on Saturday afternoon, as the Aggies are coming off a close 21-17 win over the Arkansas Razorbacks in Week 5, while the Tigers are coming off a bye week.
On Wednesday, head coach Mike Elko made his weekly appearance on the SEC Teleconference. He provided several injury updates, including a preview of the game and what Missouri presents offensively and defensively. Concerning quarterback Conner Weigman, who has missed the last three games due to his shoulder injury, the redshirt sophomore returned to practice this week.
However, any rumors regarding a full return while working with the first-team offense this week aren’t fact-based. Elko stated that Weigman was “out there and functioning a little bit more” and will continue to be a game-time decision before facing Missouri.
Over the past three games, redshirt freshman quarterback Marcel Reed has thrown for 585 yards, six touchdowns, and zero interceptions while rushing for 230 yards and two scores. Reed is 3-0 as the Aggies’ starter, and another win could solidify his standing as Texas A&M’s starting quarterback, pending Weigman’s full return and the coaching staff’s ultimate decision.
Texas A&M will host Missouri on Saturday, Oct. 5, at 11:00 a.m. CT. The game will air on ABC and will be available for streaming on ESPN+.
