Texas A&M HC Mike Elko provides update on QB Conner Weigman’s injury status

Conner Weigman is inching toward a return to the active roster

Texas A&M (3-1, 1-0 SEC) will take on the Arkansas Razorbacks (3-1, 1-0 SEC) on Saturday afternoon, as both teams will meet for a final time inside AT&T Stadium before a new venue is announced for next season.

Coming off an underwhelming but competitive 26-20 win over Bowling Green last weekend, head coach Mike Elko knows that there are plenty of issues to iron out before the Aggies take the field on Saturday afternoon. However, the status of quarterback Conner Weigman continues to change day after day.

During Wednesday’s annual SEC Teleconference, Elko stated that Weigman returned to practice this week in a limited fashion, saying that the redshirt sophomore has been “taking reps on the side” while “progressing and getting better” while the staff hopes that he could be active for Saturday.

However, if we’re being realistic, Marcel Reed has continued to take the first-team reps throughout the week while starting the last two games, so any chance that Weigman sees the field against the Razorbacks would be in an emergency capacity.

Texas A&M will face Arkansas inside AT&T Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 28, at 2:30 p.m. CT. The game will air on ESPN.
