After Marcel Reed’s impressive road game against Florida, there were some rumblings of a quarterback controversy brewing at Texas A&M. What aided in that was Weigman’s availability for next week.
If the Aggies were facing another FCS team, it would make sense to have him sit another week and let his AC joint heal while getting ready for Arkansas on Sept. 28. However, Bowling Green is no pushover, taking #8 Penn State to the limit last weekend.
Head coach Mike Elko knows the importance of this game and will be the best team on the field based on the evaluation during the week. When it comes to Conner Weigman, Elko, in my opinion, has alluded to Weigman’s injury as lingering but manageable for the near future. However, I do not want to put words in his mouth. You can check out what he said below via TexAgs:
“We’re going to re-image it to make sure there’s nothing there that we’re missing and make sure we have the right plan in place. We’ll sit down with our medical team this evening and come up with the right plan and course of action for this week.”
“Conner (Weigman) is going to be listed as day-to-day and week-to-week.” “We’ll continue to manage the quarterback room in the same manner that we have and play the guy we feel gives us the best chance to win.”
Currently, Weigman is still listed as the starter based on the recently sent-out depth chart, but as Coach Elko mentioned, it will come down to who is “completely healthy” on Saturday.
