Texas A&M graduate student guard Tyrece “Boots” Radford was arrested on Friday morning for allegedly evading police in December.
Aggies men’s basketball head coach Buzz Williams commented on the news during a press conference on Friday afternoon.
“I am not supposed to talk about anything legal, but I am completely aware of every single thing that is going on and have been,” Williams said. “I absolutely love Boots. I love his mom. I love his dad. I love his stepmom. I think in the end, it will all be apparent what has transpired. I have learned a lot from it.”
Senior power forward Henry Coleman III also shared his thoughts at the press conference.
“He is an unbelievable person. He is the most caring person that I think I have been around. A lot of people do not know his story, where he grew up, how he grew up,” Coleman said. “For him to make it here and have the success – not only on the floor but off the floor – that he has been able to do. He has been able to get two degrees and is trying to get a third one right now. He started The Rece Way Foundation, where he gives books, backpacks and school supplies to kids in the community.
“I do not see a lot of people doing that in college athletics. I would think he is one of the people at the forefront of it and somebody who I always want to have around in my corner.”
