The Texas A&M football program will be hosting its annual spring scrimmage, also known as the Maroon & White Game, on a holiday in April but it won’t be on the day for fools.
The Aggies will begin the Mike Elko era on the gridiron at Kyle Field on April 20. According to a 12th Man Athletics news release that was sent out on Friday morning, the intrasquad scrimmage will be played at 1 p.m. and admission will be free for fans.
The Maroon & White Game will serve as an opportunity to watch several of the Texas A&M quarterbacks, which ESPN recently deemed as the Aggies’ biggest strength entering the 2024 season. Incoming junior Jaylen Henderson will likely be out as he continues to recover from right shoulder surgery. Henderson hurt his non-throwing arm on the first play of the Texas Bowl.
Junior starter Conner Weigman has already been cleared however from the season-ending foot injury that he suffered in Week 4. True sophomore Marcel Reed is the presumed starter for the opposing sideline without Henderson suiting up.
