Texas A&M (7-2, 5-1 SEC) will rest this weekend.
The Aggies will finish their second bye week of the year before hosting New Mexico State next Saturday night.
After enduring the worst loss of the season against South Carolina, head coach Mike Elko is focused on fixing the issues that plagued the offense and defense against the Gamecocks, which included 25 missed tackles that led to several scores.
Like most byes, Elko spoke to the media twice on Monday and Wednesday, throughout the week, discussing how his team is determined to play its best football for the final three games, knowing that a spot in the 12-team College Football Playoff is on the line.
On Tuesday, the first CFP rankings reveal saw Texas A&M earn a No. 14 ranking, listed as the second team out below No. 13 SMU. This means that if the Aggies can defeat New Mexico State, Auburn, and Texas, they are likely a shoo-in to appear in the SEC Championship game and a spot in the playoff.
