Texas A&M eliminates Tennessee baseball from 2023 SEC Tournament.

No. 10 seed Texas A&M (33-23, 14-16 SEC) defeated No. 7 Tennessee (38-19, 16-14 SEC), 3-0, Tuesday in the SEC Tournament first-round at Hoover Metropolitan Stadium in Hoover, Alabama.

The Vols recorded one hit against Texas A&M’s starting pitcher Troy Wansing. Wansing pitched eight innings and recorded seven strikeouts.

He had a perfect game until Christian Scott singled for Tennessee with one out in the sixth inning. Scott was stranded at first base.

The game was in a weather delay from 3:56 p.m. EDT until 6:02 p.m. EDT.

Wansing (3-3) was relieved by Evan Aschenbeck when the game resumed.

Aschenbeck retired the Vols in order during the ninth inning, recording one strikeout and earning his third save in 2023.

Seth Halvorsen (2-3) made his first start of the season for Tennessee. He pitched four innings, allowing three hits, two runs and two walks, while recording six strikeouts.
