The Texas A&M baseball team has been red hot as of late, winning 12 out of their last 16 games, 4 straight SEC series against 3 ranked opponents, and 5 straight non-conference matchups against 3 ranked opponents, leading to a respectful #13 national ranking.
The Aggies now have a chance to continue the momentum with a weekend series matchup against the South Carolina Gamecocks at Olson field in College Station, Texas.
After a recent series win last weekend against the then Top 25 ranked Vanderbilt Commodores after securing 2 out of 3 games, the Aggies returned to Olson on Wednesday to face the UT Arlington Mavericks, securing a 10-5 comeback win while sporting a uniform blackout, which seemed to help create some Olson magic late into the evening.
Texas A&M has not faced the Gamecocks yet this season, With South Carolina currently holding a 22-20 overall record, with a 9-12 record in SEC play. While the Gamecocks have been a tough opponent at their home field, Founders Park in which they hold an 18-9 record, their road record speaks otherwise, standing at an abysmal 2-10 record.
Texas A&M (28-15, 12-9) is tied for 2nd in the SEC with fellow 12-9 LSU and 12-9 Auburn, only trailing the #4 ranked Arkansas Razorbacks, who stand at 14-7 in the division.
With a series win this weekend, the Aggies have a chance to take control of the second place, or potentially tie or overtake Arkansas depending on their series outcome.
