Texans WR Nico Collins with another big day vs. Colts’ defense

Texans’ wide receiver Nico Collins put together another big day against the Indianapolis Colts’ secondary.

Houston Texans’ wide receiver Nico Collins did it again to the Indianapolis Colts, putting together another big performance on Sunday.

This, unfortunately for the Colts, is becoming the norm for Collins. When it was all said and done, Collins finished the game with six receptions on eight targets for 117 yards–an average of 19.5 yards per reception.

And it’s not only the overall numbers that standout, but a few of those receptions from Collins came up at some key moments in the game.

One reception was a 55-yard completion on a third-and-one that eventually led to a Houston touchdown. Another reception came on a third-and-14 that, again, led to a touchdown.

Then, on Houston’s final possession of the game, CJ Stroud connected with Collins for 12 yards on a third-and-11, which all but put the game away.

Going back to last season, Collins now has three straight games where he’s eclipsed the 100 yard mark against the Colts. In his two games against Indianapolis in 2023, Collins recorded 16 receptions for 347 yards and two touchdowns.

Coming into the season, the Colts certainly have their question marks in the secondary, however, on several of those receptions in Sunday’s game, you just have to tip your hat to Collins for making the play.

Not helping the Colts’ cornerbacks and safeties in this game was the run defense, which regularly put the Texans’ offense in the more advantageous situations.

The next time these two teams meet will be in Houston during Week 8, at which time, the Colts will have to find some sort of answer for Collins–a task that has proven to be very difficult.
