The Houston Texans and Tennessee Titans commence their season series Sunday at noon CT at Nissan Stadium. The two-game set to be played over the final three weeks of the season essentially boils down the most important struggle for AFC South supremacy as both clubs are 8-5 and the winner will get undisputed first place in the division with a win.
Tennessee has found a resurgence thanks to quarterback Ryan Tannehill’s insertion into the starting lineup. Once 2-4 and on pace to get a view from the couch come playoff time, the Titans have rebounded with a 6-1 record and currently riding a four-game winning streak. Tennessee has been revitalized, and now a club some thought wouldn’t be in the conversation for the AFC South are about to get admin privileges.
The 2019 Texans haven’t been as inconsistent as other versions of the team, but they did lose momentum when they couldn’t follow up a 28-22 win over the New England Patriots with another victory. Instead, they allowed the 4-8 Denver Broncos, starting Drew Lock in his first career road game, to blast them 38-24 with a 31-3 halftime score. All of the gains the Texans made over their three-game homestand, momentum wise, were essentially obliterated. Now, they will have to recapture that momentum as they seek to beat the Titans at Nissan Stadium, a feat not accomplished since 2015.
