Texas-Browns first quarter recap

Texans-Browns second quarter recap

Texans 5th drive — Tell someone QB Davis Mills replaced Tyrod Taylor without actually telling them: (3 plays, 4 yards, 1:18)

Browns 6th drive — The Texans everyone expected for 2021 finally showed up. The Browns were able to get into Houston territory with a facemask penalty, and the overall complexion of Cleveland’s drive was productive, churning, and just what effective running teams do. However, it was the 33-yard touchdown catch on a screen pass on second-and-19 from RB Demetric Felton that was the real killer. Browns, 21-14

Texans 6th drive (3, 0 yards, 1:33) — A block in the back on the kickoff return setup Houston first-and-10 from the 8-yard line, which did Mills no favors. After two unsuccessful runs, Mills threw an interception to LB Malcolm Smith.

Browns 7th drive (4 plays, 6 yards, 1:37) — S Justin Reid, who was having a fabulous game, is down in the end zone and needs help from trainers. He was walking on the sidelines after going to the medical tent. The Browns settled for a 30-yard Chase McLaughlin field goal. Browns, 24-14

Texans 7th drive — Mills is starting to settle into his own and zipped a deep ball for WR Brandin Cooks, but overthrew him. Mills completed a big third down pass to TE Jordan Akins, who was then ticketed for unsportsmanlike conduct for spinning the ball after getting up. There is something to work with in Mills as he completed a third-and-13 from the Houston 40 with RB David Johnson going 14 yards on a dump off.
