The Houston Texans take on the Cleveland Browns Sunday at 12:00 p.m. Central Time at FirstEnergy Stadium.
For the Texans, it represents the first chance to start the season 2-0 for the first time since 2016 — that is how long it has been since Houston has prevailed in Week 1.
The Texans were home underdogs against the Jacksonville Jaguars. It is no surprise they will be underdogs in the Dawg Pound this weekend.
According to Tipico, the Browns are favored by -12.5, tied with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for the highest spread of Week 2. No other team is more favored than the Browns and the Buccaneers this weekend.
The point total for the game is 47.5 points, tied for the eighth-highest point total of Week 2. The point total from last year’s encounter was 17 as the Browns beat the Texans 10-7. However, the weather was a factor with ferocious winds and a 30-minute rainstorm that delayed kickoff. The weather shouldn’t be a factor as it will be 77 degrees, sunny, and just seven mile-per-hour winds.
Houston quarterback Tyrod Taylor, who goes back to face the team he played for in 2018, knows the game will be a measuring stick for where the Texans actually are.
“Yeah, I mean, each week is definitely going to create its own test,” said Taylor. “Obviously, these guys were in the playoffs last year, and they have tremendous talent on their roster. Our standard is our standard each and every week, though. For us to be the team that we have to be, we have to meet that standard, regardless of who we’re playing.”
