Texans to hire David Culley over Matt Eberflus as HC

Matt Eberflus appears to be staying.

The Houston Texans are expected to hire David Culley to be their new head coach over Indianapolis Colts defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus.

Eberflus was one of the first candidates to interview for the vacant job this offseason and while he was considered a favorite at one point, he didn’t get a second interview over the last week,

It seemed the final candidates were between Culley, who was the wide receivers coach and pass game coordinator for the Ravens, and Bills defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier.

The Colts already lost former offensive coordinator Nick Sirianni, who is now the Eagles new head coach. And he brought with him at least three assistants in Jonathan Gannon, Kevin Patullo and Jason Michael.

The Colts will have a few spots to fill on their coaching staff but it appears their defensive coordinator is safe.
