The Arizona Cardinals are losing another defensive assistant. The latest is defensive line coach Matt Burke.
According to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, he will be named the Houston Texans’ new defensive coordinator under new head coach DeMeco Ryans.
Burke spent only one year on the Cardinals’ staff as defensive line coach. He replaced Brenton Buckner.
Burke has been a defensive coordinator before, holding that position with the Miami Dolphins in 2017-2018, replacing Vance Joseph when he was hired as head coach of the Denver Broncos.
Burke joins outside linebackers coach Charlie Bullen, cornerbacks coach Greg Williams and defensive backs coach Marcus Robertson in landing jobs elsewhere, meaning either they were released from their contracts or the contracts expired.
But with these departures, it looks less and less likely that Vance Joseph, still under contract with the team, will not be retained as defensive coordinator.
