HOUSTON — The Houston Texans are expected to elevate receiver Chris Moore from the practice squad ahead of Thursday’s match against the 2-0 Carolina Panthers.
Moore, 28, will be added to the Texans’ active roster following the injuries to wide receivers Nico Collins (shoulder) and Danny Amendola (hamstring). In addition to Moore, the Texans are anticipating the debut of Anthony Miller, who missed the previous two games to continue recovering from a shoulder injury he sustained during preseason.
Moore began his career in Baltimore after the Raven selected the Cincinnati alumni in the 4th round (No. 107th overall) of the 2016 NFL Draft. Prior to joining the Texans, Moore had spent his entire career with the Ravens, where he recorded 511 yards on 47 catches and four touchdowns.
During training camp in August, Moore credited David Culley for his decision to sign with the Texans, stating that the first-year coach asked him to join his new team in Houston. Culley served as Moore’s position coach for two seasons in Baltimore.
“He always preached about putting the team first — that’s something he’s told us in the receiving room at Baltimore,” Moore said about his relationship with Culley. “It was just about us coming in here and helping the team get better. So I knew if I travelled with him and came over here that he was still going to have that same mindset, and that was still going to be his main motto coming here, so I was just excited to join him in that process.”
The Texans elevated Moore over wide receivers Jalen Camp and Jordan Veasy, who are still a part of Houston’s 16-man practice squad.
