The Houston Texans had a draft that was a B-plus at a minimum. General manager Nick Caserio showed what he can do with his own draft capital, not the moldy leftovers from a coach cosplaying as a GM.
Surely the Texans improved in the power rankings.
According to Pete Prisco from CBS Sports, the Texans’ commendable draft was good enough to move them from No. 32 to No. 31 in the power rankings — in other words, Houston is no longer the worst team in the NFL at the moment.
They traded away Deshaun Watson, and now it’s Davis Mills time. I like him as a player, but this roster isn’t great around him. They did have a good, solid draft.
The Atlanta Falcons are now the worst team in the league.
Across the rest of the AFC South, the Jacksonville Jaguars moved up five spots to No. 26 overall. The Tennessee Titans actually dropped 10 spots, but are still No. 16 in the power rankings. The Indianapolis Colts saw no change as they still possess No. 14.
As offseason workouts continue, teams will get a feel for the strengths and deficiencies of their rosters. Houston’s secondary no doubt improved with the additions of cornerback Derek Stingley and safety Jalen Pitre. How long it takes the rookies to get up to speed and be contributors remains to be seen.
