The Houston Texans claim a defensive tackle off waivers Monday.
The club announced they have claimed Eli Ankou off waivers from the Indianapolis Colts. The Texans also placed Ankou on the exempt/commissioner permission list.
Ankou has experience with the Texans. Houston signed the former UCLA Bruin as an undrafted free agent in 2017. The Texans waived Ankou at the end of that preseason, and he caught on with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
In Jacksonville, Ankou played 11 games, colectign 1.6 sacks, 19 tackles, a tackle for loss, and two quarterback hits through the 2018 season.
In 2019, Ankou played for the Cleveland Browns, starting in two games of his nine played. The 6-3, 325-pound defensive tackle recorded seven tackles and a tackle for loss.
The Browns waived Ankou at the end of training camp in 2020 with the Colts claiming him off waivers on Sept. 7. Ankou was not active for the first five weeks of the season and was waived on Oct. 17.
