Texans QB Tyrod Taylor taking ‘1-0 mindset’ into matchup with the Titans

Houston Texans quarterback Tyrod Taylor says that he is taking a “1-0 mindset” into the Week 11 showdown with the Tennessee Titans.

HOUSTON — Entering Week 11 of the NFL season fresh off a bye, the Houston Texans are determined to turn their dreadful 2021 campaign around. Amid riding an eight-game losing streak, the Texans are 1-8 entering Sunday’s AFC South showdown against the 8-2 Tennessee Titans.

Starting quarterback Tyrod Taylor said he has seen a renewed focus in his teammates since their return, as players understand the opportunity they have to capitalize on what could be the most significant upset of the season.

“Obviously, it happened, we lived it and we created it — but at the same time, you can’t look back and move forward,” Taylor said. “You have to go out with the ‘1-0’ mindset each week, winning the day. You literally have to take it one day at a time, execute, focus every day and take that attitude one day at a time and one week at a time, and look up at the end of the season and see where you’re at. You can’t focus on the past.”

Through the first nine games of the season, penalties and turnovers have been the primary reason the Texans have possessed the league’s second-worst record.

Through the first nine games of the season, penalties and turnovers have been the primary reason the Texans have possessed the league’s second-worst record. But while focusing on the issues that led them to football agony, Taylor said the Texans took a moment to self-scout and build around the positive.

“We took away some strengths that we can take advantage of moving forward,” Taylor said. “That right there alone gives you the chance to go out each week and be successful, along with us doubling down on the things we have done well up until the point.”
