Davis Mills hasn’t even thrown a pass for the Houston Texans, but the 67th overall pick in the 2021 NFL draft will be signing autographs at a local sports memorabilia convention.
Mills is part of a lineup at the 35th annual Tristar Houston Sports Collectors Show at NRG Park that also includes former Houston Cougars quarterback Andre Ware, former Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel, and former Houston Astros slugger Jeff Bagwell.
The third-round pick is part of a three-man solution at quarterback for the Texans, who are working their way towards a great reset following three-time Pro Bowler Deshaun Watson’s trade request in January. Mills is also the first selection of the general manager Nick Caserio era.
An autograph session may be one way for Mills to endear himself with Houston sports fans, but the ultimate way would be to win the quarterback battle against Tyrod Taylor and Ryan Finley and start leading the Texans to victories on the field.
