C.J. Stroud is in the midst of a battle for the starting quarterback job. The little things add up.
One area where Stroud admits he is struggling to maintain discipline is with the cuisine the city of Houston has to offer.
The Houston Texans rookie told reporters after training camp practice Sunday at Houston Methodist Training Center that the friendliness of the city along with the food is challenging his restraint.
“I’ve gotten around in Houston a little bit,” Stroud said. “I’ve heard a lot of great things of course since I moved here, and the one thing that sticks out to me is the people. The people are very welcoming, very nice. The food is amazing. I’ve got to chill on some of the food because, you know, I’ve got to maintain my nutrition.”
Stroud says the city has provided a “welcoming experience” and seeks to reward Space City for their hospitality and belief.
Said Stroud: “I’m very blessed and want to turn the city around and want to build a lot of positive things.”
The No. 2 overall pick shared which foods were the most appealing.
“I love soul food, so, I’ve got to chill on the fried foods,” said Stroud. “I’ve had a couple good spots. I love oxtail, so I’ve got to chill on the oxtail. But I haven’t had too much.”
Texans fans would allow Stroud to have oxtail for life if it resulted in a Super Bowl.
