The Houston Texans may have had a draft haul that was good for the fan base and good for the roster in finding a franchise quarterback, but there are still doubts as to how good they are compared to the rest of the NFL.
According to Mark Lane from the Touchdown Wire, the Texans are No. 29 in the outlet’s post NFL draft power rankings.
The Texans had the most exciting draft with C.J. Stroud and Will Anderson going Nos. 2-3 right to Houston. Nevertheless Houston still hasn’t won more than four games since 2019 and are on their third different coach since general manager Nick Caserio was hired in 2021. Let them prove it.
The organization and city experienced a burst of positivity with the hiring of DeMeco Ryans. The draft has done well to continue carrying that momentum. However, there are still mysteries surrounding the offense and defense, let alone the fact Stroud may have some growing pains he has to work through early.
Nevertheless there is the feeling the Texans won’t remain at the bottom of the power rankings all season long as they did in 2022.
Across the rest of the AFC South the Indianapolis Colts were No. 23 because adding a talented quarterback can do that to a mid-veteran roster. The Tennessee Titans were No. 17. The defending division champion Jacksonville Jaguars were No. 8.
