Texans OT Laremy Tunsil has dominated against Browns DE Myles Garrett

Laremy Tunsil will get another go at Myles Garrett, who he thwarted in Week 16 when the Houston Texans faced the Cleveland Browns.

Cleveland Browns edge rusher Myles Garrett is a terror on the defensive line. He’s tallied 88.5 career sacks in seven seasons and has 14 in 2023 alone.

Teams haven’t been able to stop him throughout his career, but Houston Texans offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil has been surprisingly solid against the multi-time Pro Bowler. Tunsil has allowed just one pressure in 40 matchups between the two since 2018, according to NextGen Stats. That 2.5% pressure rate is more than seven percent better than Baltimore Ravens offensive tackle Ronnie Staley, who plays Garrett twice a year.

Tunsil, who is a multi-time Pro Bowler in his own right, helped thwart Garrett in the pair’s most recent matchup in Week 16. Garrett finished that game without a sack or a quarterback hit – something that happened in only three other games this season for the veteran pass rusher.

Garrett provides the biggest threat on the defensive line for the Browns. While the secondary is elite, Garrett’s ability to set the edge and pressure quarterbacks has helped aid the Browns’ staunch defensive efforts. If Tunsil can get Garrett out of the equation, it should set up C.J. Stroud for more success against Cleveland.
