Texans GM Nick Caserio was livid at the NFL for its ‘unfair’ three-game suspension of Azeez Al-Shaair

He was not happy AT ALL with the league’s statement.

When Texans linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair hit a sliding Trevor Lawrence at the head and neck area, it was obvious that a suspension was coming.

Al-Shaair’s hit sparked a brawl, and he continued on even after his ejection. On Tuesday, the league handed down its discipline on Al-Shaair in the form of a three-game suspension. But it was awfully clear that Texans general manager Nick Caserio didn’t agree with the suspension — or how the league spoke about Al-Shaair — at all.

In his Tuesday press conference, Caserio sounded off on the league’s statement, calling it unfair. Caserio especially took issue with how the league described Al-Shaair as a player who lacked respect for the game and sportsmanship.

Judging from those remarks, it seemed obvious that Al-Shaair planned to appeal the suspension. And he will do just that, according to Adam Schefter.

If the appeal fails, the Texans linebacker will be eligible to return in Week 17.
