Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt is going against his other two brothers, Derek Watt and T.J. Watt, who play for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
J.J. is facing Derek for the second time in their respective careers. The first time was in Week 3 of 2019 when the Texans faced the Los Angeles Chargers.
During the game, Derek gave J.J. a chip to the ribs, but it didn’t matter much to the oldest brother as the Texans beat the Chargers 27-20.
“I won the game, so, it doesn’t matter,” J.J. told reporters Wednesday. “But, yeah, he tossed a chip in the ribs. That’s what he does. He’s a pesky little fullback. He sticks his elbow in your ribs as you’re pass rushing and then he goes on his way. We’ll see what happens on Sunday.”
Derek, who also plays special teams for the Steelers, scored a safety against the Denver Broncos in their 26-21 win.
“He has like three tackles on the year or something so he’s no slouch in the tackle game either,” J.J. said. “It’s been crazy to watch. This past Sunday obviously I really wish we would’ve gotten the win but Derek having two tackles and the TFL and a safety, [outside linebacker] T.J. (Watt) having two and a half sacks, my wife having two goals — it was just a pretty cool day. I just wish we could’ve got the win to cap it all off.”
If the Texans can cap off Week 3 with a win over the Steelers, with J.J. getting the win over brothers Derek and T.J., it will be even cooler day for the three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year and Houston sports fans.
