The Houston Texans announced Wednesday they have activated the 21 day window to allow outside linebacker Brennan Scarlett to return from injured reserve.
The Texans placed Scarlett on injured reserve with a fractured forearm after Week 9’s 27-25 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars at TIAA Bank Field. On the season, Scarlett has provided 25 tackles and a quarterback hit in eight games, four of which he has started.
Scarlett’s absence has allowed for youngsters such as Jonathan Greenard and Jacob Martin to get more reps in defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver’s scheme.
Houston also announced they have signed center-guard Beau Benzschawel to the practice squad. Benzschawel is a 2019 undrafted free agent from Wisconsin who spent time with the Detroit Lions from 2019-20, mainly on their practice squad and offseason roster.
