Terry Moore snags Duke’s first interception of the 2024 football season

Watch Duke’s first interception of the season as Terry Moore makes an impressive sideline snag in Friday’s first quarter against Northwestern.

After the Duke defense didn’t generate a turnover against Elon in Week 1, safety Terry Moore rectified that within a single quarter against Northwestern on Friday night.

Wildcats quarterback Mike Wright tried to find wideout Frank Covey IV down the left sideline on a third-and-6, but he waited a split-second too long. Moore diagnosed the play easily and raced across the field, leaping over Covey for the acrobatic interception.

The interception was the first in Moore’s three-year career. The North Carolina native finished with 43 total tackles and two pass deflections last season, but he’d never come down with the football until Friday.

Moore’s turnover gave the Duke offense incredible field position, and the Blue Devils turned that opportunity into a go-ahead touchdown. Quarterback Maalik Murphy found wideout Eli Pancol on a slant route just a few plays later, their second scoring connection of the young season.

After an FBS-high eight sacks in Week 1, if the Blue Devils racking up interceptions as well, first-year head coach Manny Diaz might have one of the nation’s best pass defenses on his hands.
