On Thursday night, Alabama completed its seventh practice of fall camp. Ahead of Thursday’s practice, the local media was given the opportunity to speak with three members of the Alabama football team. One of those players was redshirt sophomore cornerback [autotag]Terrion Arnold[/autotag].
Arnold is set to be the starting corner opposite of superstar Kool-Aid McKinstry, making for one of the more formidable cornerback tandems in the country.
During his press conference, Arnold was asked about freshman sensation [autotag]Caleb Downs[/autotag], who looks to be one of the starters at safety entering the 2023 season.
“Practice, about day three, we were in cover 2. They threw a 50-50 ball; made a crazy play. Made a great play. Guy’s a playmaker.”
The Crimson Tide is in need of some playmakers in the backend of the defense. In 2022, Alabama intercepted just seven passes from opposing quarterbacks, a number that should be in the double digits at a program like Alabama.
Between Kool-Aid, Arnold, and Downs, the secondary is not short on potential playmakers. Now it’s about putting it all together before the season gets underway on Sept. 2 when Middle Tennessee State rolls into town.
