Former Baltimore Ravens outside linebacker Terrell Suggs got his second Super Bowl ring, as the Kansas City Chiefs beat the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LIV. The addition of a second ring to his 139 career sacks should be enough to put Suggs in the Hall of Fame when he eventually retires. But Suggs isn’t sure if that’s going to be this offseason or not.
Though he has a chance to go out on top after 17 seasons in the NFL, Suggs isn’t going to make a rash decision in the heat of the moment. With the red and yellow confetti at his feet, Suggs said he’s just going to savor the moment with his family and make his mind up later.
At 37 Terrell Suggs is now a 2 time Super Bowl champ. He's celebrating tonight and will think about his future later. 17 years 139 career sacks and a couple of rings aint bad though. #Chiefs @CBSMiami pic.twitter.com/MBcBQj4EpG

Suggs’ 17th season has been a wild one. He initially turned down a return to Baltimore this offseason, deciding to “go home” to the Arizona Cardinals. But with the Cardinals out of the playoff hunt at the end of the season, they released Suggs to let him find another chance at glory. Though there was hope the Ravens would be able to re-sign Suggs for their own playoff run, it was the Chiefs that got to him first on the waiver wire.
Suggs has had a remarkable career that could very well see his bust in Canton. Suggs’ 139 sacks place him eighth all time, with a host of Hall of Famers both in front and behind him on the list. But Suggs was so much more than just a pass rusher, being used in Baltimore to help set the edge to contain runs and break up short passes to the outside.
If Suggs does decide to retire this offseason, he’ll have to wait until 2024 to be eligible for the Pro Football Hall of Fame. If he wants to continue playing, Suggs is set to hit free agency and could potentially be a target for the Baltimore Ravens.
