Terrell Owens wants Chiefs HC Andy Reid to give him a call

At 46 years old, Terrell Owens is ready to go if the Chiefs are in a pinch at wide receiver.

Former NFL WR Terrell Owens is lobbying for another shot in the NFL, sort of.

This comes after a viral video of a race between the 46-year-old Owens and Kansas City Chiefs WR Tyreek Hill. Hill lost one race to Owens, where he gave him a big head start and ran the length of the football field. Hill would later beat Owens in a 40-yard dash, straight up. Owens ran a hand-timed 4.42 in 40-yard dash while Hill ran a 4.37. You can watch the full race in the video at the top of the page, with the race beginning at the 16:40 mark.

After the race was over, Owens recorded a message for Chiefs head coach Andy Reid, who coached him when he was with the Philadelphia Eagles.

“Andy Reid,” Owens said enthusiastically. “If you get in trouble now — if you get in trouble — I’m letting you know right now. I’m social distancing, I’ve got my mask on. But if you’re ready, it’s going to be mask off. Bring me to Kansas City now. You know you know me — Rick Burkholder — y’all know y’all know me now. Let’s go, Kansas City Chiefs! Congratulations.”

Owens was a five-time All-Pro and led the league in receiving yards three times during his NFL career. He last played 14 games for the Cincinnati Bengals in 2010. Obviously, it’s hard to find any situation where the Chiefs might entertain signing Owens, who has been out the NFL for the last decade. It’d be highly unusual to see him make an NFL comeback at this point. I’d be lying if I said that I don’t want to see someone take a shot on the 46-year-old Owens. Who wouldn’t want to see what that might look like?
