The majority of the additions the Philadelphia 7e6rs made in the shortened 2020 offseason were made to help the team on the offensive end of the floor. They have been in need of some shooting to space the floor and they believe they have found that help.
However, there are some additions that will also help them on the defensive end. One of them was Danny Green who is known as one of the better 3-and-D players in the league, but the other is Terrance Ferguson who has made his reputation on being a defender.
Ferguson has started over 120 games in his NBA career with the Oklahoma City Thunder despite averaging only 4.8 points in his career. The reason why is that he loves to play defense.
“I think the mindset I have of getting down on the defensive end,” said Ferguson. “Not a lot of players want to do that. Everybody wants to handle the ball, score the ball, shoot the ball. Well, I love playing defense I love it, day in, day out. I work as hard as I can. To be one of the best defenders is one of my goals in life in this league so I’m going to keep doing that and just gaining the coach’s trust.”
Ferguson routinely took on the opposition’s toughest assignments on a nightly basis taking on the likes of Damian Lillard, LeBron James, and Paul George while playing in the Western Conference.
He believes that if one takes a look at the Sixers and their long lineup, he believes they can be one of the better defensive teams in the league.
“If you look at the whole lineup from the first person to the last player, the length, the height of this team, we can be really scary on the defensive end,” Ferguson added. “I’m definitely excited about that.”
As he continues to work his way on to a team and continue to develop a chemistry with his new teammates, Ferguson will follow the direction of coach Doc Rivers. Wherever Rivers throws him at is where he will go out and play.
“Wherever Doc puts me at,” Ferguson beamed. “I’m here to work as hard as I can, bring something to the table to make the team, especially on the defensive end. I just want to fit in where I fit in. Wherever Doc put me at, that’s where I’m going to play at, and play as hard as I can.” [lawrence-related id=40048,40042,40039]
