The University of Tennessee men’s basketball team will have its season delay extended.
The school canceled the Volunteer Classic scheduled for this week after head coach Rick Barnes tested positive for the coronavirus.
The University of Tennessee announced Tuesday that the program’s shutdown has been extended until Dec. 5, barring any other setbacks, meaning that the Vols will not play top-ranked Gonzaga on Dec. 2 in the Jimmy V. Classic in Indianapolis.
Tennessee also had its Dec. 4 game against Notre Dame, in South Bend, canceled.
The Vols are slated for a return to the hardwood Dec. 12, hosting Cincinnati at Thompson-Boling Arena.
The program paused all activities on Monday.
