Tennessee-Bowling Green: The all-time series

Tennessee will kick off its 2021 season Thursday against Bowling Green at Neyland Stadium.

Thursday’s contest will mark the second meeting between the two schools.

Kickoff is slated for 8 p.m. EDT and the game will be televised on SEC Network.

The Volunteers and the Falcons first played on Sept. 5, 2015 in a neutral site game at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee. The Vols were victorious, 59-30.

Bowling Green led early as kicker Tyler Tate made a 40-yard field goal with 12 minutes, 43 seconds remaining in the first quarter.

The game remained close into the the second quarter. Tennessee appeared to have gained the upper hand, scoring 21 unanswered points in the opening frame. Tennessee recorded three rushing touchdowns before the end of the quarter as Jalen Hurd scored twice and Alvin Kamara produced a 10-yard touchdown run.

The Vols led, 21-10, entering the second quarter.

The Falcons pulled to within 21-20 when Tate made his second field goal, a 37-yarder with 5 minutes, 31 seconds remaining before halftime.

Tennessee would lead, 35-20, at halftime as Hurd scored and Ethan Wolf recorded an 11-yard touchdown reception from Joshua Dobbs.

Hurd totaled three touchdown runs on the day and Wolf recorded two touchdown receptions.

Kamara was Tennessee’s leading rusher against the Falcons, totaling 144 yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries.

Dobbs completed 15-of-22 attempts for 205 passing yards. He totaled two passing and one rushing touchdown.
