Tennessee-Arkansas: The all-time series

The history of the Tennessee-Arkansas football series.

After an open date, Tennessee returns to the gridiron Saturday when it hits the road to take on Arkansas.

Kickoff is slated for 7:30 p.m. EST in Fayetteville.

Vols Wire takes a look at the all-time series between the Volunteers and the Razorbacks.

The two teams have been Southeastern Conference counterparts since Arkansas joined the league in 1992.

The Vols and Razorbacks, however, had a history before the SEC expanded.

They first played in Memphis in 1907 when the Vols posted a 14-2 victory.

The Big Orange and Arkansas have tangled in a pair of bowl games with UT winning both.

Tennessee, which holds a 13-5 advantage in the series, beat the Razorbacks, 31-27, in the Cotton Bowl in 1990. The Vols edged Arkansas in the Liberty Bowl, 14-13, in 1971.

The Vols may hold the upper hand, but the Razorbacks have won the last two meetings and have prevailed in three of the last four tilts.

Arkansas outlasted Tennessee, 24-20, in 2015. The Razorbacks defeated the Volunteers, 49-7, in 2011, while prevailing, 31-14, in 2006.
