Tennessee-Akron all-time series

A look at the Tennessee-Akron all-time football series.

No. 16 Tennessee (2-0) will host Akron (1-1) at Neyland Stadium Saturday.

Kickoff between Tennessee and Akron is slated for 7 p.m. EDT (ESPN+).

Saturday’s meeting will be the third between the two schools. Tennessee won both previous meetings at Neyland Stadium.

The two teams first played Nov. 11, 1989. Tennessee defeated the Zips, 52-9.

Tennessee defeated Akron in its second meeting, 47-26, Sept. 22, 2012.

The Vols enter Week 3 after a 34-27 overtime victory at Pittsburgh, while Akron lost at Michigan State, 52-0.

Tennessee has never lost to a Mid-American Conference team. The Vols are 9-0 against current MAC teams. Tennessee defeated Ball State, 59-10, in Week 1.
