No. 4 Tennessee (42-14, 20-10 SEC) defeated No. 21 South Carolina (33-20, 16-14 SEC), 5-4, Saturday at Founders Park in Columbia.
The win gives Tennessee a series victory, taking two contests against South Carolina.
Pitcher Blade Tidwell (7-3) earned the victory for Tennessee. He pitched seven innings for the Vols, striking out six and giving up six hits, four runs and walking two.
Sean Hunley earned his seventh save of the season. He struck out four in two innings of relief, giving up two hits.
Luc Lipcius, Jake Rucker and Evan Russell each had two-hit games for the Vols. Connor Pavolony recorded one home run and three RBIs for Tennessee.
Saturday’s game was the regular season finale for both teams.
Tennessee will now play in the Southeastern Conference Tournament at Hoover Metropolitan Stadium in Hoover, Alabama.
The SEC Tournament will take place May 25-30.
