Tennessee Titans’ Week 9 Player of the Game: A.J. Brown

A pair of catches by Brown helped spark what was otherwise a lackluster Titans offense.

With 4:48 remaining in the second quarter, quarterback Ryan Tannehill threw an absolute dime to wide receiver A.J. Brown for a 40-yard touchdown. It was then that the levee broke for the Tennessee Titans.

Leading 10-0 at the half, there was room for optimism, and nearly all of that could be credited to Brown. No. 11 not only notched that 40-yard score, but his 38-yard reception in the first quarter set the Titans up for a field goal.

To begin the second half — with the defense playing well (or the Bears’ incompetent offense waving hello) — the Titans did everything they could to avoid making the big mistake.

Offensive coordinator, Arthur Smith, continued to generate Brown targets and fed King Henry and his underlings. And, while Brown’s second half was relatively quiet, he finished the day with four receptions for 101 yards and a score. This game was over the minute he sparked the offense with the touchdown in the second quarter.

Although this was not a flashy victory offensively for the Titans, a win is a win, and Brown helped lead them to the promised land. His routes were crisp, and his breaks at the stem were mechanical. Brown is a danger to take the ball to the house any time he touches it, and he showed up for the two-toned blue today.

Honorable mention(s): ILB Jayon Brown – 10 combined tackles, one sack, one pass defense, forced fumble; CB Desmond King II – Two tackles, one fumble recovery, one touchdown.
