Tennessee Titans’ Taylor Lewan makes PFF’s ‘All Run-Blocking O-line’

Taylor Lewan was elite among left tackles at run blocking in 2019.

It’s no secret the Tennessee Titans are one of the NFL’s strongest teams in the ground game right now.

They can thank former Alabama running back Derrick Henry, who finished out last season with the league’s rushing title (1,540 yards) over Nick Chubb of the Cleveland Browns for that.

But a successful run game isn’t just about the rushers themselves. Any great offense has a solid offensive line, and the big men upfront did a lot to help open things up for Henry last year.

One Titans offensive lineman, left tackle Taylor Lewan, finished out the 2019 season as one of Pro Football Focus’ highest-graded left tackle when it came to run blocking (80.7).

With that, he joined left guard Quenton Nelson (90.1), center Jason Kelce (83.8), right guard Brandon Books (91.4) and right tackle Lane Johnson (92.6) in the network’s “All Run-Blocking O-line” from last year.

The Titans started last season slow with an overall record of 2-4, but turned things around as a whole after naming Ryan Tannehill the starting quarterback in Week 7.

It will be interesting to see if Tannehill can continue to expand upon that success in the upcoming season, and just how well things work in the passing and the run games as the Titans prepare to make another playoff run.
