The Tennessee Titans have one of the most complete teams we’ve seen them put together in recent history, but there are still some important tweaks to be made ahead of the 2020 season.
One issue that needs some addressing is the offensive line.
The Titans lost right tackle Jack Conklin to the Cleveland Browns earlier this offseason, and absolutely must come in with an effective plan to replace the ever-improving lineman for the future.
Tennessee could do that by taking care of the position in the first round, selecting USC offensive tackle Austin Jackson.
That’s exactly what Dr. Roto of Sports Illustrated has the team doing with the No. 29 overall pick later this month.
“A replacement for the departed Jack Conklin, Jackson can start Week 1,” he wrote.
Jackson started all 13 games at left tackle last season, earning first-team All-Pac-12 honors.
During his freshman year, Jackson played in all 14 games as a reserve and on special teams, starting all 12 games at left tackle the following season.
This is far from the first time the Titans have been pegged to take an offensive lineman to kick things off in the draft.
Different mocks have the Titans taking other linemen such as Houston’s Josh Jones, Boise State’s Ezra Cleveland and Andrew Thomas of Georgia.
It will be interesting to see which — if any — of these names the Titans choose to add to the roster come April 23.
