Tennessee Titans showing interest in Baylor WR Denzel Mims

Denzel Mims and the Titans had a non-traditional pre-draft visit.

The coronavirus outbreak has forced the cancellations of traditional pre-draft visits between teams and 2020 NFL Draft prospects, so the Tennessee Titans have had to get creative as a result.

One way to get around the restrictions is by meeting prospects through FaceTime, which is exactly what the Titans did with Baylor wide receiver, Denzel Mims, according to Draft Wire’s Justin Melo.

Tennessee should be in the market for a wide receiver this offseason, and that need became more apparent on Wednesday after Tajae Sharpe left the team to sign with the Minnesota Vikings.

General manager Jon Robinson also has to start planning ahead, as wide receiver Corey Davis likely won’t have his fifth-year option picked up, potentially leaving a hole in the receiving corps. in 2021.

Mims is an interesting prospect who has been flying up draft boards in the last few months.

Not only does he have the size (6-foot-3, 215 pounds) to be a perimeter receiver, he’s also a former track star with the kind of speed that can stretch the field. If there’s one type of receiver the Titans could use this season, it’s a wideout who classifies as a burner.

In a normal year, Mims might be a late Day 1, early Day 2 pick, but with the amount of talent at the position in this year’s draft, he could be around when the Titans are on the clock in the second round (No. 61 overall) or later.
