Tennessee Titans listed as team that could start 2020 season 5-0

Could the Titans go unbeaten in the first five games of the 2020 regular season?

The Tennessee Titans got off to a rough start in 2019, going 2-4 before switching from Marcus Mariota to Ryan Tannehill at quarterback in Week 7.

The team never looked back, making it all the way to the AFC Championship Game with Tannehill taking the snaps.

Heading into 2020, Tannehill has signed a four-year extension worth $118 million, and Marcus Mariota is expected play backup to Derek Carr as the Raiders prepare to make their move from Oakland to Las Vegas.

So, now that the team seems to have all the pieces in place, will they begin this season better than they opened the last one?

Nick Schwartz of USA TODAY’s For The Win thinks it’s not only possible, but he lists the Titans as a team that could start 5-0.

“The Titans have three tough games in their opening five, but they’ll have the benefit of playing at home against the Steelers and Bills,” he wrote. “Week 3 in Minnesota will be the toughest test, but I’ll put my money on Derrick Henry.”

The Titans begin the season by facing the Denver Broncos on the road in Week 1, the Jacksonville Jaguars in Nashville in Week 2, the Minnesota Vikings away from home in Week 3, followed by the Pittsburgh Steelers and Buffalo Bills in Nissan Stadium in Weeks 4 and 5, respectively.

Tennessee’s highs and lows have been unpredictable over recent years, and it will be interesting to see how this first part of the schedule actually shakes out for them when they face the Broncos on Sept. 14, a team that is notoriously great playing at home in the first two weeks of a season.
