Tennessee Titans’ epic schedule reveal video receives high praise

The Titans were unanimously praised for their schedule reveal video.

NFL teams each had their own way of revealing their 2020 NFL schedules, but the Tennessee Titans’ video was unanimously ranked as one of the best.

Tennessee used a video featuring “Titan Man” to reveal its schedule on Thursday night, which brought back those feel-good memories of the old Saturday morning cartoons of the 1980s and 90s.

Major props to the video team for this one.

Dan Gartland of Sports Illustrated ranked the Titans’ video as the sixth-best among all the teams who posted one.

It says a lot about the videos further down this list that the Titans only come in at No. 6.

This video may look like a late-80s/early-90s cartoon that the team repurposed for its schedule reveal, but it’s actually 100% original. The team enlisted 30 people from the animation department at Nashville’s Lipscomb University, under the direction of former Disney animator Tom Bancroft, to create the video.

Dave Green of NBC Sports Boston gave the Titans an “A-“.

Is it cheesy? Sure. But the concept of “Titan Man” scaling Mount Olympus while facing 16 challenges based on Tennessee’s opponents is entirely different from other teams. And it’s just plain fun.

James Dator of SB Nation ranked Tennessee’s presentation fourth.

This might have taken the most work in the entire league. Animating everything is a difficult enough task, but nailing the 80s Saturday morning cartoon aesthetic is tough to pull off, and the Titans aced it.

The Draft Network’s Trevor Sikkema placed the Titans at No. 8 on his list.

The Titans took their creativity to new heights — pun intended — with this one. They created their own cartoon of “Titan Man,” who ascends up a mountain and wards off cartoon versions of their 2020 opponents. The video features a stiff arm to the Jaguars — cue Derrick Henry flashbacks — and even used a Danganronpa look-a-like for the Bears.

This was well thought out and very well executed.

Jerry Thornton of Barstool Sports had the Titans at No. 2 in his rankings.

The best use of nostalgia, using the style of a 90s Saturday morning cartoon, with perfect depictions of the rival cities on their schedule. Absolutely inspired.

To their credit, the Jacksonville Jaguars produced a hilarious video to reveal their schedule, and Titans left tackle Taylor Lewan agreed.

The 2020 season hasn’t even started yet and the Titans are already winning.
