The Tennessee Titans seem to be all-in on quarterback Ryan Tannehill.
After all, they didn’t look back after naming him the team’s starting quarterback in Week 7 of last season, and they recently signed him to a four-year extension worth $188 million.
But how married are they truly to the starter?
Very much so, according to Dan Graziano of ESPN.
In his recent article ranking how committed each team is to its starter, Graziano ranked the Titans second, behind the Los Angeles Rams and quarterback Jared Goff.
“Tannehill helped lead the Titans to the AFC Championship Game in his contract year, and the team rewarded him with a whopper of a deal,” he wrote. “The Titans can easily get out of the final year of the deal if they aren’t happy with Tannehill, but this contract marries him to them for the next three years.”
Tannehill led the NFL in yards per attempt (9.6), adjusted yards gained per pass attempt (10.2), yards per completion (13.6) and passer rating (117.5).
He finished out the season with a 70.3 percent completion percentage for 2,742 yards, 22 touchdowns and just six interceptions over 10 starts and a pair of appearances.
If Tannehill can continue this success and not return to the level of inconsistency we saw him show with the Miami Dolphins, the Titans won’t be looking for a new No. 1 at signal-caller for years to come.
