Recapping UT’s loss to North Carolina Friday.

The University of Tennessee men’s tennis team suffered its first loss of the season at the ITA Indoor Championship quarterfinals Friday afternoon.

The No. 10 Volunteers came up on the short end of a 4-1 decision against No. 2 North Carolina at the Atkins Tennis Center in Champaign, Illinois.

The Vols (8-1) had its lone win that counted in the dual match against North Carolina at No. 3 doubles as Tennessee’s tandem of Giles Hussey and Mark Wallner got past UNC’s team of Benjamin Sigouin and Rinky Hijikata, 6-3.

That victory marked the fourth consecutive win for Hussey and Wallner as a doubles team.

Hussey is a graduate student and Wallner is a senior for the Big Orange.

Tennessee returns to action Saturday in a consolation match against Texas Christian in Champaign.
