Tennessee’s men’s tennis team notched a Southeastern Conference road win against a top-25 opponent Sunday.
The No. 2 Volunteers defeated No. 14 Ole Miss, 6-1, in Oxford.
Tennessee (14-2, 2-0 SEC) won five of six singles against the Rebels (10-4, 0-1 SEC).
Adam Walton outlasted Nicola Slavic, 4-6, 6-2, 7-6 (5), at No. 1 singles.
At No. 2, Emile Hudd defeated Finn Reynolds, 7-6 (9-7), 7-6 (7-4).
The Rebels notched its only win of the day at No. 3 singles as J. Hallquist Lithen defeated Angel Diaz, 4-6, 7-5, 0-6.
Martim Prada also notched a singles win over Lukas Engelhardt, 6-3, 7-6 (5).
At No. 5 singles, Tennessee’s Shunsuke Mitsui defeated Simon Junk, 6-3, 6-3. At No. 6 singles, Pat Harper earned a three set victory over Jan Soren Hain, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.
The Vols won a doubles point by sweeping two matches.
Walton and Harper defeated Ole Miss’ tandem of Hain and Junk, 6-2. Johannus Monday and Mark Wellner defeated Slavic and Lithen, 7-1.
