Tennessee projected for rematch in College Football Playoff

Tennessee is projected for a rematch in the first-round of the College Football Playoff.

One week remains in the 2024 college football regular-season ahead of conference championship games.

Tennessee (9-2, 5-2 SEC) is in contention to advance to the 12-team College Football Playoff.

Following Week 13 games, ESPN released updated College Football Playoff projections. ESPN projects Tennessee as a No. 9 seed and will play at No. 8 seed Georgia.

The first-round game would be contested Dec. 20 or Dec. 21 at Sanford Stadium in Athens, Georgia. The Vols and Bulldogs faced each other on Nov. 16 in Week 12. Georgia defeated Tennessee, 31-17.

The winner between Tennessee and Georgia would advance to play No. 1 Oregon in the College Football Playoff quarterfinals.

Tennessee will conclude regular-season play at Vanderbilt on Saturday in Week 14. Kickoff between the Vols and Commodores is scheduled for noon EST and will be televised by ABC in Nashville, Tennessee.
