Bankston signed with Iowa State in the 2020 recruiting class as a 3-star JUCO prospect out of Hutchinson Community College. The Woodstock, Georgia native was the No. 3 JUCO defensive tackle according to the 247Sports Composite.

Bankston had a strong campaign during his lone year with the Cyclones, recording 16 tackles, 4.5 tackles for a loss and 3.5 sacks as Iowa State reached the Big 12 championship game.

The 6-foot, 300-pound interior defensive lineman would immediately add an experienced piece into Tennessee’s rotation.
