The 6-foot-3, 227-pound prospect from Lubbock, Texas is rated a 4-star prospect according to 247Sports, and the No. 5 outside linebacker in his class.
McKinzie has been lethal as an edge rusher thus far in his prep career, and has size and measurable that appear college ready as just a sophomore at Cooper High School. McKinzie committed to Oklahoma on January 15 and has not fielded many offers since.
Texas Tech, Texas A&M and Oklahoma State have also offered McKinzie. Tennessee currently has no players committed to the 2022 recruiting class, and no outside linebackers pledged to the 2021 class.
