Tennessee’s search for its kicker of the future continued on Tuesday as the Vols offered 2022 prospect Alex McPherson from Fort Payne, Alabama.
I want to say that I am extremely blessed that I have received my second full scholarship offer to the University of Tennessee! #GoVols🍊 @CoachJPruitt @CoachStiff pic.twitter.com/OrjUxajF3b

Fort Payne is familiar territory for Tennessee head coach Jeremy Pruitt, who comes from the nearby town of Rainsville. McPherson is a rising junior at Fort Payne High School, where Pruitt coached under his father from 2001-03.
McPherson is a 5-foot-8, 138-pound kicker who only received his second offer from the Vols, with Florida being the first to get on the board. Tennessee returns senior kicker Brent Cimaglia in 2020, who converted 23 of his 27 field goal attempts in 2019 and is among the top kickers in the SEC. After Cimaglia graduates, however, things get murky for the Vols in regards to kicking.
Junior Paxton Brooks returns to handle kickoff and punting duties, but is the only other kicking specialist on scholarship. The Vols did not sign a kicker in the class of 2020 and do not have one committed to the class of 2021.
